Menstruation Blockade:It exists everywhere........
I was aware that at some parts of my country girls and women have to sleep outside home during Menstruation. This practice is named as Chaupaddi. Basically, In Chauppadi, girls & women during menstruation have to stay outside home in cowshed and are not allowed to enter kitchen and take part in religious activities. I had read about Chauppadi in some newspaper and I felt bad about it for sometimes after reading the news but I eventually forget about it and I was back to my normal life as in my Home I am allowed to enjoy all the luxuries like sleeping in cozy bed with blankets on even when i am in my period. I am allowed to enter kitchen. Of course one has to maintain cleanliness and hygiene during period. The real tragedy was to witness the Chaupaddi and even forced to follow the practice by my landlord while I was transferred to Darma VDC of Humla as a part of my job.
